We are excited to announce that we have organised an exclusive curator-led tour for Art Radar readers, students and friends of a seminal Guggenheim exhibition of Southeast Asian Art which has travelled from New York. No Country: Contemporary Art for South and Southeast Asia is curated by June Yap, Guggenheim UBS MAP Curator, South and Southeast Asia, and Dominique Chan, Exhibition Curator, Asia Society Hong Kong Center.

The Asia Society Hong Kong Center will present No Country: Contemporary Art for South and Southeast Asia, the inaugural touring exhibition of the Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative, from October 30, 2013, to February 16, 2014 in Hong Kong featuring recent work by 13 artists from Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam

In its review of “No Country”, the New York Times notes that America’s top museums are changing their collecting habits and are turning to Asian art. “The Guggenheim Museum, now embarked on a single-mindedly non-western shopping spree, leads the pack.”

Join us to find out which artists from Southeast Asia are coming into international focus. You will have the opportunity to hear the stories behind the exhibition and ask questions about the artists and their works during our intimate Art Radar tour led by the Asia Society’s exhibition co-curator Dominique Chan.

This will be followed by drinks and art chat at a local hotel. What do we on the ground in Asia make of the Guggenheim choices?  ”In “No Country” you’re seeing part of an institutional future taking shape as you watch” says the New York Times. Do you agree? Join us!
