On the eve of Singapore Biennale 2013, ARTINFO has selected ten satellite shows worth seeing in the city-state.
Southeast Asian contemporary art is at the heart of the 2013 Singapore Biennale, with 90 percent of this year’s artists coming from the region. But the Biennale is not the only place to see noteworthy art from Southeast Asia and beyond, says ARTINFO, with commercial galleries hosting a range of contemporaneous satellite shows.

From Japanese-owned spaces to home-grown galleries, ARTINFO rounds up ten satellite shows worth seeing as the Biennale opens its doors.

- “Versus: Indonesian Contemporary,” Mizuma Gallery, 18 October to 22 December
- “Sulaiman Itu Melayu (Sulaiman was Malay)” Tomio Koyama Gallery, 23 October to 8 December
- “Honesty Printed on Modesty,” Singapore Tyler Print Institute (STPI), 24 October to 23 November
- “Plunder,” Yavuz Fine Art, 24 October to 1 December
- “A Changed World: Singapore Art 1950s–1970s,” National Museum of Singapore, 25 October to 16 March
- “YesterdaysFutures (Part 1),” Espace Louis Vuitton, 23 October to 1 March; and “YesterdaysFutures (Part II),” School of the Arts, 23 October to 10 November
- “Homage to the Culture of Rice,” Drawing Room, 23 October to 17 November
- “Nam June Paik, Works from the 1990s,” Space Cottonseed, 23 October to 8 December
- “Face of Facebook,” Shanghart Gallery, 23 October to 9 December
